Ferrochrome

Ferrochrome is an alloy of iron and chromium with a minimum chromium content of 45.0% and a maximum of 95.0%, obtained by reducing the raw materials or their concentrates.

Ferrochrome is used for alloying steel, and foundry ferrochrome is used as a semi-product in silicochrome smelting.

Ferrochrome is divided into the following groups according to the carbon content:

High-carbon

carbon content from 4.0 to 9.0%

Medium-carbon

carbon content from 0.5 to 4.0%

Low-carbon

carbon content up to 0.5%

Low-carbon nitrided

nitrogen content from 1.0 to 6.0%
