Manganese metal
Manganese of technical purity (95-99.8% Mn) is called metallic manganese, obtained by silicothermal and electrolytic methods. In some countries, metallic manganese is obtained by the aluminothermic method. This type of ferroalloy is used in stainless steel smelting.
It is used to replace deficient nickel in smelting. In addition, the ferroalloy has the property of increasing the wear resistance of steel and the tensile strength. Only traces of non-stick materials and oxide film are allowed in pieces of Mn95 metallic manganese. There should be no contamination with sand, slag and other materials.
